This research aims to demonstrate the importance of monetary policy indicators in the growth of agricultural output in the Iraqi economy during the period 2004–2023. It analyzes the role of several monetary policy tools and indicators (interest rate, reserve requirement, exchange rate, central bank independence index, agricultural credit, foreign currency auction window, and inflation rate) within the context of the economic transformations Iraq has undergone since 2003. The research employs a descriptive analytical approach, examining the evolution of selected monetary indicators and analyzing their impact on agricultural output performance. The study concludes that monetary policy, through its tools and indicators, plays a significant role in influencing agricultural output growth. Furthermore, it finds that managing monetary policy and maintaining a balanced relationship with fiscal policy is crucial for the sustainability of agricultural growth, as monetary developments affect both the inputs and outputs of agricultural production. The research recommends adjusting monetary policy to achieve a balance between price stability and supporting the sustainable growth of the agricultural sector. It also recommends the periodic evaluation and review of monetary policy tools based on economic indicators and forecasts to mitigate economic shocks, preserve the independence of the Central Bank of Iraq, enhance transparency, and safeguard monetary decision-making from political pressures.
