Abstract

This study analyzed the relationship between soil properties and agricultural crop productivity in the alluvial plain soil of Al-Saqlawiyah district. This relationship arises from the variation in soil properties from one place to another, influenced by both locational and human factors. The impact of these factors on agricultural production is clearly evident. The study also aims, through the objectives reached by the researchers, to identify the most important reasons that led to the deterioration and decline of a part of the agricultural lands and to develop appropriate solutions without the destruction of those lands. The study was implemented based on an analysis of soil properties through taking four soil samples distributed over the study area, which has an area of (173 km2) In the areas of Al-Rumaila, Hawiza, Al-Buakashat and Al-Bushajil, after conducting laboratory analysis of soil samples in the study area, the results of the study showed that the soil is neutral, free of salts, and has a silty and clayey loam texture, but it is poor in its organic matter content. The study recommended the necessity of adding chemical and organic fertilizers, in addition to some nutrients needed by the plant, as well as government support for farmers, in order to improve soil properties and increase agricultural production.
