Abstract

The study presents a geographical analysis of divorce cases in the Baqubah district, in response to the increasing number of divorce incidents observed in the area. This rise indicates the emergence of a phenomenon that requires monitoring and spatial distribution analysis, followed by an investigation of the most influential social and economic variables contributing to its occurrence. The significance of this research lies in the fact that it is one of the few studies that addresses divorce from a geographical perspective. The study arrived at several key findings, among which is that divorce cases occur more frequently in the center of Baqubah district compared to its subordinate administrative units. Moreover, divorces result from various factors, most notably economic, health-related, and demographic causes. Among the most influential variables are demographic factors such as the age of both spouses and the number of years they have been married. These are followed by economic variables, including the type of housing, the husband’s employment and work status, the wife’s employment and work status, and monthly income. Educational variables, such as the academic attainment of both spouses, come next, followed by social and health-related factors, along with other contributing variables.
